South Africa has a long history of pioneers and innovators that makes South Africans proud, not only in aviation but also in many other fields. It is in this spirit that a group of South African aviators will fly to Oshkosh, Wisconsin, USA the venue of the World's premier aviation event - the EAA's Airventure 2003, at which the commemoration of powered flight will be celebrated.

The South African pilots will fly their own aircraft to the USA. In many cases they have built these aircraft themselves, from plans or from kits. The pilots are from all walks of life, from airline professionals to aviation enthusiast.

The group will be lead by Chalike Stobbart a South African Airways Training Captain on Boeing 737-200's. It was Chalkie's idea some two years ago that started this endeavor. Chalkie is a prominent EAA member in South Africa (chapter 322) and he will be flying his RV6 with Peter Hengst.

We will leave from Lanseria on July 12, 2003.
